REDBASE is thrilled to announce its participation in Sculpture by the Sea, Australia’s largest annual outdoor sculpture event held in Sydney. This year, the gallery showcases an exceptional artwork by Indonesian artist Ichwan Noor, entitled Blue Moon (2016).Sculpture by the Sea transforms Sydney’s iconic Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk into an open-air museum, where art lovers can engage with over 100 sculptures against the stunning backdrop of Sydney’s coastline. Ichwan Noor’s Blue Moon stands out as one of the most compelling installations this year.
Blue Moon: A Fusion of Man-Made and Organic Forms
Blue Moon is a powerful exploration of the intersection between technology and nature. Crafted from auto engine parts, the sculpture reflects Noor’s fascination with combining man-made materials and organic forms. As Noor explains, “This sculpture reflects my interest in the combination of man-made and the organic, in which human or animal forms are supported by or merged with technological attributes. Increasingly, however, I focus mainly on the man-made.” The use of painted auto parts to create this masterpiece speaks to the complex relationship between human innovation and the natural world.
